Below is a list of academic resources for students and community resources for our families in Harrisburg and surrounding areas. The community resources are available in Dauphin County and the Harrisburg, PA area. The community and governmental agencies listed below will be able to provide multiple services for families.

CONTACT Helpline

The helpline provides a one-stop-shop to find information about different resources (i.e., mental health, housing, programming, etc.) available in Harrisburg and surrounding areas.  The helpline includes a referral service.

Tri Community Action Commission

The Tri Community Action Commission provides a variety of services, ranging from social services to housing assistance, for families as well as community development.  Social services include services for adults, parents, and children, as well as at-risk youth.

Dauphin County Systems of Care Meetings

There are meetings held at least once a month that focus on Community, Cultural Competency, Faith-Based, Parent/Guardian Advisory Board, and Youth Leadership Committee. Each of these meetings consists of individuals and other community organizations to allow for collaboration and integration of services, supports, and resources for families.

Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Pennsylvania

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Pennsylvania offers a variety of programs for youth as well as programming to support families and enhance strengths. There are multiple locations in Harrisburg, PA.

Big Brother Big Sister

Big Brother Big Sister of the Capital Region provides mentoring programs and youth development.

Salvation Army

Salvation Army offers many programs that help provide basic needs. They provide education, help, and nourishment to  communities and individuals who are struggling.

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline  

We can all help prevent suicide. The Lifeline provides 24/7; free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones, and best practices for professionals.

National Immigration Detention Hotline

The Trevor Project  

The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning (LGBTQ) for young people.

U.S. National Domestic Violence Hotline 

They also have an online chat feature available. Operating around the clock, seven days a week, confidential and free of cost, the National Domestic Violence Hotline provides lifesaving tools and immediate support to enable victims to find safety and live lives free of abuse. Highly trained, experienced advocates offer compassionate support, crisis intervention information and referral services in over 170 languages.

Catholic Charities  

Catholic Charities provides hope, help and support to thousands of families each year, regardless of their faith. They provide programs ranging from maternity homes, adoption services, and foster care, counseling to the only homeless shelter in Central Pennsylvania that keeps families intact, and immigration and Refugee Services.
