Biography:

Emily M. May, M.S. is a doctoral student in the Clinical Child Psychology program at Penn State working with Dr. Witherspoon in the Context and Development Lab. She earned her B.A. in psychology from Marquette University and subsequently worked in community psychology research at DePaul University. Emily studies the ways in which contextual and individual factors shape parenting and youth outcomes in diverse families. She is particularly interested in adolescents’ substance use and educational outcomes. For her dissertation, Emily is conducting two complementary studies on substance use in diverse rural adolescents.
